In the plastics sector, the development of continuous process improvement is a critical factor in maintaining competitiveness in the market. In order to meet sales orders, it is necessary to reduce production losses throughout the process. For this purpose, several authors stipulate the use of the OEE indicator to determine the efficiency of the process or line. In the case study, the PLASTICS company has a thermoforming line efficiency that does not reach the world class performance standard, being a comparison of 67.6% versus 85%. Thus, losses on quality were identified, which reduces the final production, and machine stops, which reduces the availability of the machinery. With these sources of loss identified, a method was developed to increase the efficiency of the study line based on the pillars of Total Productive Management and standardization through the DMAIC cycle. With this model, it was possible to increase quality by 11.38 percentage points and reduce unscheduled stoppages, thus increasing availability by 4.12 percentage points through autonomous and planned maintenance previously supported by 5S. Likewise, with this implementation, we were able to close the gap with respect to the world class index, increasing efficiency by 13.28 percentage points.
