In Peru, the use of seismic isolation systems in the construction of buildings has gained relevance due to the high seismic activity in the region. These systems allow for greater versatility in the face of seismic movement. However, to adequately protect these systems, retaining walls that close the perimeter is required. So far, the design procedures for these walls are based on conventional approaches and do not dynamically consider seismic accelerations, which puts the integrity of isolated structures at risk. The general objective of this thesis is to develop a retaining wall design capable of resisting a seismic acceleration of 0.6 g, and to ensure the protection of isolated structures. To achieve this, information on the design of retaining walls is compiled, the acceleration level required for earthquakes with a return period of 2500 years is determined and a design method that incorporates the consideration of seismic acceleration is adapted. The methodology employed is based on an experimental approach using historical seismic activity data, design acceleration estimation and a dynamic design method. Key results include an acceleration estimate for long period earthquakes, a deformation of 2.7 centimeters in the analysis under seismic force action and the importance of considering this factor in designs to prevent damage to isolated structures. This research offers a solid method to design retaining walls considering seismic acceleration, benefiting engineers and professionals in the construction of isolated structures in regions of high seismic risk.
