The transportation of hydrocarbons such as natural gas (NG) was declared of national interest by Emergency Decree N°035-2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first title of the Emergency Decree, it orders to continue providing basic public services such as electricity, natural gas and telecommunications to vulnerable population groups, therefore, it is very important to maintain the country's energy system, which is approximately 50% based on natural gas. The natural gas is taken by the thermal power plants, generally located in the district of Chilca, province of Cañete, department of Lima, Peru, and is transformed into electrical energy, which is injected into the country's electrical energy network and is made available to all Peruvian users. The aim of this paperwork is to enhance the availability of electrical systems in remote locations of a hydrocarbon transportation company by applying the RCM tool. The remote locations are fed with electric energy generated by thermogenerators that operate with natural gas, and in order to guarantee a reliable and safe operation of the natural gas transportation through pipelines, the failure events of the electric and instrumentation systems of such locations must be minimized, which is the reason for the present work of professional sufficiency.
