A leading company in the hydrocarbon sector experienced a significant deficiency in the distribution service level of LPG cylinders in its packaging line over the past year, falling 10.44% below the industry standard. To address this issue, the company decided to employ various industrial engineering tools with the aim of identifying the root cause of the problem. It was determined that the main issue was undelivered shipments due to arriving outside of the scheduled time window, accounting for 83.77% of the total problem.Having identified the root cause, the company initiated the implementation of an improvement project using the PDCA methodology with a focus on Process Standardization. As a result of this implementation, the service level in LPG cylinder distribution improved by 8.10%, leading to a reduction in overruns and lost sales of S/ 389,336.60 and S/ 6,658,243.96, respectively. Additionally, there was a reduction in CO2 emissions, reflecting the project's sustainability. Ultimately, the project proved to be viable, with a Net Present Value (VAN) of S/ 352,287.98 and a return on investment achieved within 1.49 years, demonstrating the efficiency of the methodology for its application in future projects.
