The professional proficiency work aims to improve the reliability of the induction furnace in a zinc refinery by implementing electrical reengineering. The methodology used included the identification of existing problems, the evaluation of possible solutions and the selection of the best solution. The engineering proposal included the installation of new equipment and modification of existing systems. By taking a proactive approach, this study has demonstrated how a well-planned intervention can lead to significant improvements that transcend the immediate scope of the plant, positively influencing operation and maintenance standards in the metals refining sector at a national and even international level. Project results include a reduction in induction furnace downtime and an increase in refinery production. In addition, it was determined that the total cost of the project was S/. 131,000 and an expected return is expected that includes savings in operating costs, increased sales or production efficiencies, among others. The project's conclusions highlight the importance of analysis tools and careful execution of the proposed solutions. The authors demonstrate a deep understanding of electrical problems and an ability to implement effective solutions. Overall, the professional proficiency work is an example of how electrical reengineering can improve the reliability and efficiency of industrial systems.
