Objective: to describe and make a critical analysis of the clinical cases I had access to as a medical intern, which influenced my professional and personal development with significant learnings. Methodology: descriptive and analytical major report of the clinical experience gained at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital during the medical internship. Main results: thirty clinical cases of patients treated at Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital are described, with 30% belonging to the general surgery department, another 30% to obstetrics, 23.3% from the internal medicine department, and the remaining 16.6% from clinical pediatrics. The most significant learning during this period has been developing the ability to work as a team with healthcare professionals and patients. I have also had the opportunity to put empathy, ethics, and professionalism into practice, essential qualities for becoming a good doctor. In this way, I have learned to consider the person as a whole, with the aim of preventing, diagnosing, and treating any condition that may impact their quality of life early on. Conclusions: the medical internship is the beginning of daily medical practice, marked by extensive theoretical and practical learning. I emphasize the crucial doctor-patient relationship, which is established during the medical internship stage and strengthens over the years.
