This project is based on the implementation of industrial engineering tools to a metalworking MYPE in Peru, which is dedicated to the manufacture of home furniture such as: dining rooms, beds and staterom. The main problem is the low production efficiency in the chair manufacturing line. Since to fulfill the deliveries of orders on time, overtime is being used, which impacts the economy of the MYPE. Under a first evaluation, it has been detected that the company has a negative economic impact equal to 8.77% with respect to the annual profit of the MYPE. This project proposes to increase the capacity of the chair production line using a model that adapts to solving root cause problems. To do this, a diagnosis of the organization is carried out, through a time study and preparation of a DAP, these quality tools quantify the reality of each process in the chair manufacturing line. An implementation model is proposed to reduce activities that do not add value to the production capacity of the MYPE and the following three tools were chosen: 5S, SMED and SLP, which are executed in three phases. Management indicators were also implemented, in order to measure the effectiveness of the implemented tools. Finally, the results of the indicators demonstrate the efficient application of the implemented tools, since the theoretical production capacity increased by 16%, going from having a production capacity of 1814 to 2096 chairs per month. Furthermore, considering that this project was already implemented, last month a production of 1985 chairs was recorded. The objective of reaching the 95% the TARGET required by general management was met.
