The research addresses the implementation of proposals for improvement in the management of maintenance and review of inventories to address the problem of low availability of forklift equipment during a period of nineteen months, in the service provided to the company Owen Illinois S.A. The 10,408 hours of unavailable time of forklift equipment were analyzed, which generate an impact on billing for a total of S/ 301,906. The main causes identified are equipment breakdowns and stock shortages of spare parts and supplies, which account for 79.5% of the main problem. To reduce unavailable times, an analysis of historical time data grouped by critical machinery systems was carried out to implement the tools for each of the main causes. The first tool corresponds to planned maintenance, pillar of the TPM, to develop a preventive maintenance plan considering the critical components and a predictive maintenance plan that covers the engine and transmission systems that was detected as the critical elevator system. The second tool corresponds to the implementation of a continuous review model for the supply of spare parts and supply, according to the demand generated by our preventive maintenance plan. Therefore, the implementation of both tools, together, can generate a recovery of 6,638 available hours, which represent 64% of the total hours for unplanned stops.
