In this research, a study was carried out to reduce quality defects in the products manufactured by an SME company in the metal-mechanic industry. Among all the products manufactured by the company, we focused on the manufacture of grills (Grating), where there are defects above the standard. The main tool used is the Six Sigma methodology, because it focuses on reducing defects and increasing the capacity of the processes to meet the specifications. As a first step, we collected all the information of the accepted and rejected products manufactured by the company in the period 2022, analyzed the current control variables and determined the current situation of the process. Through the analysis, we proceeded to determine all the variables that could affect the process. After that, we validated the measurement system by means of statistical analysis, and then carried out experimental designs through initial tests with batch 1. Finally, obtaining all possible results, we proceeded to carry out a pilot with batch 2 with the most optimal parameters, which validated the expected results. As a result of the research work, it was demonstrated that with the implementation of Six Sigma, defective products are drastically reduced from 29.45% recorded in the period 2022 to 0.57% obtained with the experimental designs and validated through pilot tests. This reduction of defective products resulted in savings for the PYME of S/. 167,181.38 projected over 5 years.
