The current project is undertaken in a heavy machinery rental company and focuses on improving the Damages and Loss, process in the rental equipment. Currently, when equipment is returned from a rental, it undergoes an assessment for damages and loss before becoming available for another customer. The costs associated with damages and loss are automatically applied during equipment preparation, without waiting for customer negotiation due to high rental demand. The issue lies in the fact that, on many occasions, customer negotiation occurs after one month from the equipment return, and customers often do not recognize or are unwilling to pay the associated costs. This has had a detrimental impact on the company, as in the year 2022, the investment in repairing damages and replacing loss amounted to $565,523.14, while the revenue generated from Damages and loss was only $117,305.46, resulting in a recovery rate of 20%. The project aims to identify and address this issue to enhance the recovery of Damages and loss costs. It proposes implementing solutions utilizing engineering tools to enable early identification and expedite the recovery of Damages and loss investments, improve customer communication, and optimize the negotiation process. This will contribute to reducing financial losses and increasing efficiency in managing Damages and Loss, which is essential for the company's financial health.
