In the recent years, the fishing sector has shown an increase in global demand and world GDP, leading to production increasing to unsustainable scales for companies engaged in the industry, causing economic destabilization of these and problems at the level of planning, quality and management. However, the main problem that afflicts the sector is the economic losses generated by the high levels of waste, a consequence of the excessive level of production. Therefore, this research work focuses on proposing the combination of a set of Lean Manufacturing tools, including 5s, Poka Yoke and standardization of work, and TPM, so in that way is possible to decrease and, as far as possible, eliminate, the impact generated by the main problem mentioned above, optimizing the level of production, improving the quality characteristics of the product and generating substantial savings for the case study analyzed. Through the analysis of a material balance and the enforcement of some engineering tools, the root causes were determined, which ones through a work scheme with hierarchical steps were attacked. Finally, the solution model was put into practice by the application of a pilot test, that allowed registered results like a reduction of 4.53% in the production waste, an increase of 6% in the OEE, thus the reduction of work time in process like trimming and packing, getting an optimization both in quality and billing inside the company.
