Over time, a number of maintenance solutions have been proposed by different authors in an effort to manage planned work effectively. However, these are not always as successful in small and medium-sized companies because they lack resources, are unable to implement them, or the strategies are not adequate to address the problem at hand. Low machinery efficiency in manufacturing companies is a major problem due to frequent equipment breakdowns, long repair times and the absence of a maintenance strategy. To counteract the problem of organizations in a wood sector company, a management plan based on TPM and SMED tools is proposed through a continuous improvement model in order to guarantee a higher percentage of time that the equipment works, reduce downtime, increase work speed and reduce defective products that lead to reprocesses or losses; in other words, increase the OEE indicator. The proposed model increased by 12.7% of the aforementioned metric and with it, production increased by 19.7%.
