This thesis describes a study of a semi-rigid pavement design in the Project with the construction and improvement of the Bambamarca - Paccha - Chimban Highway Section I. The geotechnical problems identified in the field include water leaks, which cause deformations, undulations and phenomena of ruts. Previous studies have been carried out that classified the soils and it was possible to determine a sandy silt soil with a CBR equivalent to 6%, which is why the Soils and Pavements manual qualifies as inadequate soils and the need to improve the foundation lands is required. with a material with greater support capacity. For the design of the road, it is considered low traffic and is being designed with a semi-rigid pavement. The research focuses on the verification of these design thicknesses using elastic models and the ASHTO 1993 methodology. The problem formulation refers to how the CBR value affects the determination of road improvement thicknesses, using elastic models and the AASHTO 1993 methodology at specific locations (progressive 2+500 and 12+500). In other words, the question arises about the influence of CBR on pavement design and how mathematical models can be used to optimize these designs. In principle, two techniques are applied to determine the improvement in the bearing capacity of soils. First of all, there is the replacement technique and the foundation soil improvement technique by using lime. On the other hand, it was determined that both techniques are suitable for improving the bearing capacity of sandy silty soils, as is the case with loan material, it improves the CBR to 40% and by using lime at 2%, it improves the bearing capacity up to 40%.Finally, it was possible to verify an improvement in the design of the thicknesses using the Odemark mechanistic model, which generates an improvement in the semi-rigid pavement design budget. These improvements are reflected within the contractual budget and in the environmental impact.Verification of the thickness of the semi-rigged pavement using elastic models and the ASSHTO 1993 methodology in the critical areas for the Bambamarca-Paccha Highway Project Section I.
