This academic work reviews the problems that have been affecting many companies in the retail sector in Peru in recent years. The backorder in the sector have meant the loss of millions of soles in the budgets of companies and with a greater impact on the regions, which has led to decisions to cut the budget or even close the businesses. This was mainly caused by stock shortages of its products, therefore, the supply chain did not meet adequate delivery times, in addition to external factors that occurred in recent months such as social protests and the El Niño Phenomenon. The proposed solution was carried out in a company in the retail sector and is based on the implementation of regional distribution centers using the PDCA tool, as well as the identification of strategic products using the ABC methodology to prioritize with previously evaluated suppliers to maintain correct supply and even manage a contingency inventory stock. The results in the months after the implementation were favorable, reaching a level of backorder of less than 2.5% and stock shortage of 4.5%, which meant a considerable economic improvement for the company.
