Globally, there are serious traffic congestion problems. Sometimes these are caused by inadequate traffic management strategies, poor road design, and incorrect transportation policies and planning. It is important to note that a city should be designed focusing on people and not prioritizing vehicles, as is often the case, unfortunately, which is why, there are no conditions of safety and comfort for people with reduced mobility and older adults, who have been systematically ignored. For instance, the cities of Peru have conventional road intersections, among them is the intersection of Los Próceres Avenue with Panamericana Norte Avenue located in the city of Lima. At the aforementioned intersection, a large number of accessibility deficiencies for users can be observed, such as lack of signage, absence of ramps, ramps in poor condition, deteriorated sidewalks, short time to cross an almost 30-meter-long avenue causing a large number of people to end up stuck on the central berm of said avenue. Having identified this problem, the objective of this paper is to develop a geometric redesign to ensure pedestrian accessibility for people with reduced mobility at the intersection of Próceres Avenue and Panamericana Norte Avenue, complementing it with the Wayfinding model. For this, a series of activities were carried out, including the preparation of a field study to evaluate the existing deficiencies in accessibility at the intersection of Próceres Avenue and Panamericana Norte Avenue, pedestrian flow counts and satisfaction surveys. On top of that, data obtained by reviewing the intersection plans was analyzed and an on-site inspection of it was carried out. In addition, Solutions were proposed to improve the accessibility of the intersection using international standards and the concept of Wayfinding, using the Likert scale to evaluate the impact of these solutions. Finally, the comments made in the judgment form from experts in the field and from the users themselves were compiled to improve the proposed model, taking into account their needs, recommendations and criticisms. This was done in conjunction with the final review of the accessible design, which included reviewing the technical aspects and developing a new Likert scale.
