This thesis focuses on the development of an innovative application aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy in order taking by retail merchants in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. Fast-moving consumer goods are products that are consistently purchased by the population. Using the Android platform, our application offers users an intuitive and accessible solution that streamlines the purchasing process and ensures more effective order management. It’s important to note that this initiative primarily emerged to reduce physical contact during the COVID-19 pandemic between the years 2020 and 2022. The project’s methodology included user-centered design and the development of a scalable application with features such as product catalog display and automatic order generation. The results from the initial months of use demonstrated a significant reduction in order errors (devolution process), leading to substantial improvements in customer satisfaction and operational efficiency for retail merchants. This Project not only addresses a critical need in the fast-moving consumer goods market but also sets a precedent for the adoption of mobile technologies in this sector. In the future, this Application has the potential to expand its functionalities to areas beyond order taking, such as payments through bank transfers or credit cards, logistics, and inventory management. In conclusion, this thesis presents an effective and cost-efficient solution for automating order taking in retail businesses, bringing tangible benefits to both merchants and consumers, with aspirations for a digital transformation of this market.
