The present work of professional sufficiency seeks to implement an innovation proposal to encourage the development of empathy in kindergarten children between 5 and 6 years of age in a private school in Metropolitan Lima. To support the proposal, bibliographical research was conducted on the socio-emotional development of children, empathy and factors that influence the development of this. This proposal is considered innovative because in the educational institution the development of empathy has not been worked with students. In addition, developing empathy during early childhood is considered vital for the development of socio-emotional skills. This project was composed of three stages: recognition of emotions, empathy with peers and empathetic attitudes outside school. To carry out this work, two information gathering techniques were used: a questionnaire, which was completed by the teachers; and the non-participant observation in which a checklist was used. Finally, it was concluded that the students were involved in the implementation process, were motivated during each of the activities, had an active participation and managed to recognize what they felt, that is, the objectives of the implementation phase were met.
