The fundamental objective of this research work is to measure the impact of affiliation to health insurance such as SIS, Essalud and Seguro Privado on out-of-pocket health spending in Peru during the study period of 2007-2019. For this, data from ENAHO was used and a Tobit econometric model was used to help measure said impact. From this, the following results were obtained: the independent variable that generates the greatest positive and significant impact on out-of-pocket health spending is adults over 65 years of age, followed by household member with chronic illness. Furthermore, the results show that affiliation to Private Health Insurance reduces out-of-pocket health spending to a lesser extent while affiliation to Essalud reduces out-of-pocket health spending to a greater extent.
