In this study, the implementation of a guide for the operation stage of a stormwater tank at Chulucanas Hospital, Piura, using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology to prevent flooding and ensure uninterrupted operation of the medical institution is examined. Results demonstrate that the application of this guide has led to continuous operation of the stormwater tank for 99.5% of the time, a 40% reduction in annual floods, and a 50% decrease in flood-related property damage. Furthermore, the satisfaction of hospital staff and users has significantly improved, with satisfaction rates of 90% and 80%, respectively. The response time to emergencies has been reduced by 25%, and the stormwater tank's evacuation capacity has improved by 15%. These findings support the replicability of the developed approach and operation guide, which can be applied to other hospitals and critical environments in flood-prone regions. The conclusions suggest that the BIM methodology and the operation guide provide an effective solution for flood management and continuous operation of stormwater tanks, resulting in a safer and more reliable hospital environment. It is recommended to continue staff training, maintain a strong preventive maintenance program, and share these results and best practices with other similar institutions.
