Background/Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic led college students to move to remote education, and face limitations and constraints. Therefore, the ability to regulate their behavior with a sense of choice to take action and effectively resolve setbacks and adversity must be considered. This study sought to determine the relationship between the need for autonomy and resilience in university students in remote mode during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: 149 university students between 18 and 31 years of age, 60.4% female, who were receiving remote education during the period 2020/21 participated. The Need for Autonomy Scale and the Resilience Scale were applied. Results: A significant positive and moderate relationship between the need for autonomy and resilience is evident. Furthermore, these findings are replicated when assessing the relationship between the dimensions of resilience, personal competence and self-acceptance with the satisfaction of the need for autonomy. Conclusions: Moderate levels of resilience are linked to a tendency for university students to satisfy their need for autonomy despite the external pressures of the pandemic context.
