In the mining sector, the implementation of a solid operational management model plays a fundamental role, since its objectives focused on cost reduction and mitigation of reprocessing directly impact the efficiency and profitability of operations. This model ranges from strategic – operational planning to resource management – cost control. However, the lack of solid management model direction can lead to process inefficiencies, task redundancies, and waste of valuable resources; unnecessarily increasing operating costs. In this sense, the present investigation focuses on resolving a deviation in the management of the specialized wet shotcrete maintenance service executed by a mining contracting company, since the results obtained since the beginning of the service reflect significant economic losses caused by operational deviations, which affect the valorization percentage (valued Shotcrete/dosed Shotcrete), failing to meet the planned valorization target for the service of 95%. To this end, it is proposed to work on an operational management model for the service, based on the management model of the Corporate Operations Management that allows mitigating the identified gaps, which is granted traceability through the implementation of the “Valorization Efficiency” indicator, the purpose of which is to have a high level of detail of operational information that allows us to make decisions and correct operational deviations in a timely manner. According to the results obtained, after optimizing the management model, it was possible to increase the percentage of “Valorization Efficiency” by 11% in a period of 9 months, reaching the break-even point in the first semester and managing to mitigate the economic loss for valorization of more than 200,000 USD.
