Currently, the existing demand for metals pushes us to exploit particular mineral deposits, such as narrow veins. Given its geological and structural characteristics, various underground mining methods are proposed that allow for its greatest use. One of them is exploitation by long drills, which lately is becoming quite relevant in the field, since they offer high productivity versus a relatively low cost. However, the development of this method in this type of mineralized structures brings with it various problems that considerably affect each of its stages. One of the most affected stages is drilling, where there are factors that are difficult to manage, whether due to operational or human causes. Therefore, in the present research work, the evaluation of the drilling stage of long holes in narrow veins of an underground mine located in southern Peru will be carried out. The evaluation process developed is designed using the Lean Six Sigma methodology approach, which ranges from the identification of the main problems, the collection of process information, the detailed analysis of the case and the control of the recurring factors in the problem. Based on this, the research proposal seeks to structure potential solutions for continuous improvement in the long hole drilling process of the evaluated case.
