The industrial Metrology market in Peru has had a growing demand for Metrology laboratories accredited in the ISO/IEC 17025 standard by Peruvian companies, given that they seek to obtain results that ensure the quality of the results issued while respecting the times. delivery of these results. In this context, this research work focuses on a metrology laboratory that has had significant expenses in 2021, linked to an increase in the costs of overtime for personnel caused in turn by non-compliance with the delivery time of the calibration service of 20 kg weights, caused mainly by unproductive times in said process. The root causes of the problem in question are poor distribution of the laboratory areas and disorder within them. This study proposes the implementation of SLP and 5S tools to eliminate the identified root causes. The implementation focuses on a new distribution of the laboratory areas using the SLP tool; to subsequently perform the application of each of the phases of the 5S tool. In conclusion, the application of the improvement proposal manages to reduce the time of the 20 kg weight calibration process by 74%, reduce the transfer distance by 72% and comply with the delivery of the 20 kg weight calibration service. 20 kg at 90%.
