In recent years, in Peru, the production and use of cement for the production of concrete has been increasing, as well as carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. For this reason, in this research the sustainability of concrete was evaluated by measuring the carbon footprint, with a high strength mix (CAR) of f`c=500 kg/cm2 using fly ash (CV) as a replacement material in percentages; in addition, concrete tests were carried out both in fresh and hardened state. The purpose of these tests was to check the improvement in the durability of the RAC and its greenhouse impact with the addition of fly ash. The procedure began with the classification of the VC, then the mix designs were made and ended with the analysis of the tests. The experimental development details the different mix designs elaborated for the standard concrete and for the concrete with 5%, 7.5% and 10% CV additions; it also explains the tests on fresh concrete and hardened concrete carried out to obtain the compressive strength, porosity and sulphate resistance. According to the results obtained, the mix design with the addition of 7.5% of CV is the most optimal, since, with this percentage, it improves the durability of the RAC and reduces the CO2 emission by 4.80%. Finally, it is concluded that the replacement of cement by VC optimises the mechanical properties of a RAC and the higher the replacement percentage, the greater the CO2 reduction; however, the compressive strength decreases.
