The topic of this thesis is the use of digital strategies in the online platforms of Peruvian media during the coverage of the ‘Vacunagate’ case in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The general objective is to identify the digital strategies that El Comercio and La República used on their online platforms when covering this case between February 10 and 15, 2021. The data collection technique followed was content analysis, applied to the web notes published in the established time period, since they corresponded to the first days of coverage of the case and maintained a high level of journalistic relevance. Furthermore, as the president and other representatives of the Executive Branch were involved, this controversial event in the midst of a pandemic generated indignation and discomfort in both national public opinion and foreign media. As noted, investigating the digital strategies used by these two media will provide enriching knowledge that will allow us to better understand how they use them to connect with their audience, encourage interaction and maintain their relevance in a highly competitive environment. In this sense, the research will contribute to the field of digital communication by identifying strategies used by the media in a new and uncertain context such as the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, the findings may offer recommendations and best practices for other media outlets that face similar challenges in news coverage and need to use digital strategies.
