This thesis covers the proposed soil improvement treatment for the Chilla sector, whose main soil characteristic is the presence of loose, poorly graded, potentially liquefiable sands. On the other hand, the district of Juliaca has had a significant population increase, so the construction of civil works has increased to meet the needs of the population. Likewise, the seismic activity of the Puno Region has been revised, recategorizing it to a seismic zone 3 Ministerio de Vivienda (2018). These two variables are characteristics of liquefiable soils, therefore, it could affect the foundation of the structures, causing significant damage to the foundation, such as cracks, settlements, etc. This damage is mostly due to inadequate soil treatment; therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to propose a foundation design for a reservoir by placing compacted gravel columns. The methodology proposed for the design of the gravel columns is that of Lawton, who calculates the upper and lower settlements as a form of control. In addition, the present thesis has compiled a wide range of research demonstrating the soil characteristics, which will allow us to obtain the values for the proposed design. Finally, as a result of the methodology, a diameter of 0.65 m is obtained for a 15.4 m square foundation, whose minimum center-to-center spacing is 2.5 m with a gravel column length of 6.65 m with a total of 36 columns.
