Mockumentary series belong to an audiovisual genre that is considered a parody of the documentary, since it presents fictitious events or imitates real situations as if they were authentic. It has different challenges for its production, including puns, cultural references and specific humor that are complex for the translation process. Furthermore, in audiovisual translation, there are still few studies that take into account the characterization of a character that are involved in a mockumentary., especially how his or her interventions can help develop the mission of a specific audiovisual genre. Therefore, this paper approaches this phenomenon from a linguistic, extralinguistic and paralinguistic approach, since it seeks to analyze the characterization at the discursive level of the character of the English presenter Philomena Cunk in the Spanish subtitling of the mockumentary series Cunk on Earth. The study will be carried out from a qualitative approach using two techniques: content analysis and textual-contrastive analysis. The first will be used to analyze the content of the character's interventions depending on the situation in which she finds herself. The second will be used to show the translation process of the character's dialogue with the help of translation techniques and the communicative functions according to Nord. This contrastive model has a multimodal edge that includes the filmic and visual elements of the mockumentary.
