During the beginning of the pandemic, the need for information grew significantly, and the media had to adapt to the situation, since international organizations and health authorities provided specialized information. In addition, the pandemic situation generated an increase in news consumption among the Peruvian audience, which motivated the media to prioritize the coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic as part of their journalistic agenda. In addition, given the situation of mandatory immobilization, the consumption of printed newspapers decreased, while digital news platforms became one of the main sources of information for citizens. In 2020, the web platform of the newspaper "El Comercio" was one of the most consulted digital media in Peru, which underlines its relevance in society and the importance of analyzing its coverage during the pandemic. This research article focuses on analyzing the digital journalistic coverage made by the newspaper "El Comercio" on the pandemic of COVID-19 in Peru during the first week of mandatory quarantine in March 2020, using the informative notes as the object of analysis and the Network Society as the main axis to understand the dissemination of information.
