The thesis is about the design of a portable machine with a double cutting system for cutting metal plates for circular bases of hydrocarbon storage tanks. The machine is designed to cut circular ranges from 2 to 8 meters in radius with a plate thickness of 3/16“ to 5/16“. The objective of the thesis is to design a machine that complies with safety regulations, and that can improve the efficiency of the cutting process. The thesis describes the design of the machine, including the use of rubber wheels, oxygen and acetylene cylinders, gears, and a motor. The machine is modular, allowing it to cut plates in different radii. The thesis also discusses the challenges of the current manual cutting process, including insufficient personnel, poor finishing, and safety concerns.
