Earth dams are important structures due to their use for conservation and distribution of water to nearby communities, therefore the study of physical stability becomes a significant reason for research to prevent failures and guarantee safety. In this research work, the physical stability analysis of the Pallcca earth dam in the department of Ayacucho is developed, where from the data the soil mechanics report, the geometry of the dam, water level, stratigraphy and the average values of the geotechnical parameters were obtained. The stability analysis was carried out through the engineering software Slide by Rocscience through a probabilistic analysis using Monte Carlo simulation, allowing random data of the parameters to be generated and related to each other, finally resulting in the safety factor of the dam. During the analysis, 3 phases were considered: end of construction, full reservoir and rapid discharge. Likewise, 3 situations of variability of the standard deviation of the parameters: ±1, ±2.5 and ±5, as well as 2 horizontal seismic coefficients. Once all information processed, the safety factors of the dam were obtained using Spencer and Morgenstern-Price methods, and subsequently compared with what the AASHTO LFRD regulations recommend. In the same way, the reliability index and probability of failure values were obtained. The results indicated adequate and regular physical stability of the dam in static and pseudostatic conditions, respectively.
