Currently, in the scientific literature, there is a significant emphasis on the human-animal relationship and the psychological impact it entails. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to conduct a systematic review on the relationship between psychological well-being and the human-animal bond in older adults. Various scientific databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed were used. For the analysis of the obtained data, eligibility and exclusion criteria were employed, following the PRISMA model. Additionally, the methodological quality of the research was assessed using the PEDro Scale. Regarding the results, this systematic review included three cross-sectional design articles. The surveyed older adults enjoyed their relationship with their pets, considering them as part of their family. Also, talk about their pets with others, contributed to their emotional well-being. Similarly, being responsible for a pet represented a life purpose that provided them with a sense of responsibility and affection. Finally, according to the reviewed articles, evidence has been found that the link between older adults and pets is associated with certain components of psychological well-being, specifically positive relationships with others and a sense of purpose in life.
