The research work “Geometric redesign and implementation of semaphization at the intersection of Av. Javier Prado with Av. Aviation aimed at improving pedestrian accessibility“ proposes to analyze the existing geometric design of the intersection in study regarding pedestrian accessibility and propose an improvement proposal by redesigning and implementing semaphization for decrease the conflicts presented between pedestrian-pedestrian and pedestrian-vehicle by 12%. Also, improve travel time by 10%. The methodology has a level of descriptive research and field design that has been in-situ data collection. The methodology has a level of descriptive research and field design that has been in-situ data collection. The results are obtained by employing the creation of a microsimulation model with the Visswalk software, doing the calibration and validation of the parameters of efficiency of the travel times of pedestrians. It represents the geometric design to evaluate conflicts and travel times proposing the creation of a safety island, implementation of semaphization and a redesign of the geometric changing dimensions of lanes and sidewalks to improve accessibility, having as references guides and international regulations of road design as the NACTO and the REDEVU. This result is compared with the proposal presenting having improvements in terms of the aspect of the pedestrian, improving its accessibility and travel times. The results show that the proposal allows a reduction in travel time by 14.33% and a reduction of 25.00% in the number of conflicts, which shows an improvement in pedestrian accessibility.
