With the objective of determining the economic efficiency of electrical distribution companies in Peru, a quantitative investigation with a transversal design was developed. Information was collected on inputs and products (or services) valued in monetary units and recorded in the profit and loss statements of each of the companies in the industrial sector under study. The non-parametric optimization method called Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was applied, with product orientation. It was demonstrated that the frontier of economic efficiency based on Management (ETP) prevails, which showed an average of 91.72%, which indicates that, on average, the electrical distribution sector presented inefficiencies of the order of 8:28%. An improvement plan was formulated to convert inefficient banks into efficient ones, based on four strategies: reduction of some inputs, increase of one of the products, increase of the two products evaluated and joint application of the aforementioned strategies.
