The objective of the research was to analyze the incidents generated by the use of IDF curves, since rainfall instruments in Peru are scarce. For this, a micro-basin close to the Huayao meteorological station was delimited and a culvert was projected on the Cañete-Cañete highway. Yauyos Km 240.60. Different methodologies were used for the IDF curves, such as; ILLA SENAMHI which is obtained through the location of rainfall zones and subzones; data collected from SENAMHI records, this method was developed according to the MTC (2011); SENMAHI Web Module, which gives us an estimated range of an IDF curve and then of Roque & Arancibia with information from the Huayao station. With these methods, the necessary design intensities and flows for the projected sewer were calculated with a return period of 35 years MTC (2011), concentration time of 91.83 min. and runoff of 0.28. For analysis of the sizing of the transversal drainage work, a return period of 25 years generally used for sewer designs was also considered. Likewise, with the design flows, the diameters of 42“, 48“ and 60“ were obtained, then with Using the HY8 tool, the proposed diameters were verified. With these analyzes it is determined that the methods presented in the research are viable for drainage design, although differences were found, they are neither undersized nor oversized, but the most optimal would be to apply the latest method developed, because they come from pluviographic records.
