The present research aims to analyze the effect that the ventilation of cardboard containers and their arrangement on pallets inside a forced air-cooling tunnel have on grape cooling. A numerical simulation (CFD) was conducted to demonstrate the airflow behavior within the tunnel and through two cardboard containers used by the company Corporación Agrolatina S.A.C in the grape campaigns of 2022 and 2023. The design of the boxes, pallets, and Californian tunnel was carried out using SolidWorks software. Subsequently, the assembly of these components was completed, and the Flow Simulation plugin was employed for the fluid analysis (air). The pallet under investigation consists of 19 rows of 5 boxes each, totaling 95 boxes. In the tunnel, 20 pallets enter, divided into two groups of 10, resulting in a significant computational load. To conduct this study without the need for specialized computers, it was necessary to restrict the number of boxes and only use the top three rows, considering the remaining rows of the pallet as a solid. For the analysis and discussion of results, the central pallet on the left side was chosen as the study element in all simulations, providing a point of comparison under approximately standard conditions. In conclusion, it can be stated that the D2B5 arrangement for both boxes is the optimal stacking option, and better results are achieved when combined with the box from the 21-22 campaign.
