In the geographical context of Peru, river floods represent a recurring challenge, negatively impacting communities and agricultural activities. The year 2012 witnessed a climatic event that significantly affected the Loreto department, triggering intense and persistent rains in the Trompeteros district. This phenomenon led to the overflow of the Corrientes River, causing structural, sanitary, and hygienic damages to the population of Villa Trompeteros, the district's capital city. This research focuses on hydraulic modeling in the lower basin of the Corrientes River, specifically in the district's capital city, Villa Trompeteros. Satellite images, also known as Digital Elevation Models (DEM), from the Land Viewer portal were used as topographic parameters. The HEC-RAS 2D software was employed for modeling, considering the variable flow characteristics. Water levels and maximum velocities were obtained, generating hazard maps to assess risks. As a primary contribution of flow records, local hydrological reports from the period 1986-2014 were used, interpolating values to the present for more accurate results. HEC-RAS 2D software is used for modeling, allowing consideration of variable flow characteristics and providing crucial data such as flow rates and maximum velocities. Hazard maps are generated to assess risks, validating the results through comparisons with other studies and photographs of the area.
