Over the last few years, La Herradura beach has been subject of the phenomenon of marine erosion, due to the variation of the coastline and the loss of sand terrain caused by the change in the deposition of boulders. The purpose of this research is to analyze the change in the shoreline of La Herradura beach between the years 2005 to 2023, as well as to evaluate the natural and anthropogenic factors that influenced this erosion process. The analysis of the shoreline was performed by processing satellite images downloaded from LANDSAT and SENTINEL in QGIS software. The extension program of ARCGIS called DSAS (Digital Shoreline Analysis System) was used to determine the shoreline variation. The coastal evolution analysis of La Herradura beach shows a shoreline variation of -0.54 m/year by the Linear Regression Rate (LRR) method, which indicates a tendency towards moderate erosion. Furthermore, the validation of the results obtained in the study was conducted with the Aquamonitor; of Luijendijk et al. (2018), in which similar trends in average rates were observed. Finally, the causes (natural and anthropogenic factors) that originate coastal erosion were identified, the impact of marine dynamics on the beach and steep slopes were observed, which represents a greater vulnerability to erosive processes.
