The subject of the present research addresses the identification of areas at risk of landslides and soil erosion through satellite images in Acostambo, Huancavelica region, Peru, for the prevention of potential hazards through visual representation. For this, the research is divided into five chapters. Initially, an assessment is conducted to determine the area most susceptible to erosion or landslides in the district of Acostambo and to delineate the sub-basin for study. Subsequently, the satellite image processing is carried out to recognize changes in soil and vegetation. Then, using the values of the bands obtained from Landsat 8 images, the calculation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) is performed, which enhances NDVI through a correction factor. The study concludes with the creation of a potential hazard map detailing critical areas and zones susceptible to landslides and erosion. In this way, approximately thirty-six areas of land with the potential for erosion and landslides have been identified. Among them, two areas near the road connecting Acostambo and Izcuchaca stand out, which were exposed and analyzed through field photographs, thus revealing areas with bare or dead soil.
