In the present research “Seismic evaluation through non-linear analysis of a pavilion of the E.I. Venado Muerto in the Cochas-Ancash district” arises due to the high danger of collapse of state educational institutions in Peru due to the poor state of the infrastructure according to the study carried out by the Comptroller General of the Republic (Diario El Correo, 2013). The fundamental objective is based on carrying out a non-linear analysis to the E.I. Venado Muerto to determine the state of the structure and conclude if the structure is prepared for earthquakes with greater intensity than the Peruvian regulations E-030 approved by the Ministerio de Vivienda Construcción y Saneamiento (MVCS, 2018). The investigation began considering the seismic parameters and steel details of the project, to later model the structure in the ETABS software. With the program, the non-linear parameters and generation of hinges in the structure were defined, taking into consideration the indications given by the VISION 2000 SEAOC committee (Safina Melone, 2003). A non-linear analysis was then carried out, obtaining the capacity curve for each direction of analysis. In addition, the rare and very rare earthquake spectra were determined for the performance analysis of the structure. Finally, the damage status and classification of the structure were analyzed using the performance matrix of the SEAOC guide (Safina Melone, 2003). It is concluded that the building does not meet the performance objective for category A buildings.
