The purpose of this case study is to analyze an issue within the Peruvian Comprehensive Health System (Sistema Integral de Salud – SIS): the implementation of teleworking to improve performance efficiency and job satisfaction. This case study applied a qualitative method, based on the use of root-cause analysis tools and the exploration of scientific research papers related to the problem under study. The main finding of the research is that teleworkers need a modern and appropriate technological architecture, which is indispensable for the development of their activities and has a direct impact on their performance. A second finding concerns the work-life balance of employees; in this regard, companies must establish flexible timetables that promote family integration. Another finding is that distractors such as personal environment, family burden and time management may have a positive or negative impact on the teleworker’s job performance. A fourth finding is that an adequate implementation of teleworking processes positively impacts employee motivation, provided that there is a fluent communication between heads and colleagues. Lastly, it is recommended to continue conducting scientific research to build a more extensive theoretical framework, which will contribute to a better understanding of the issue and to proposing alternative solutions aligned with present times.
