On many occasions when building a home there is no adequate planning. It is realized that in Peru 80% of the homes built have a structural deficit, so one way to solve this growing problem would be to apply structural reinforcement to informally self-built homes. Regarding the reinforcement of a home, it can be said that there are several types of reinforcement such as Carbon Fiber or Jacketing. Reinforcement by casing attempts to size the columns on a larger scale, thereby increasing the dimension of the element so that informally self-built homes can comply with what is specified by the standard. Due to this, a design was developed in Etabs for a house located in the Rímac district, in which the structural elements were pre-sized, the seismic analysis was carried out using the static and dynamic method. Finally, with the design in Etabs it is calculated that the columns of the building do not have adequate steel, which leads to problems with the building. Finally, reinforcement is considered by means of cladding and plates are added so that they can comply with what is specified by the regulations and can become a habitable and safe home.
