The present thesis project focuses on the intersection of Av. Panamericana Norte Km 32 with Av. San Juan in the district of Puente Piedra. The purpose of the research is to improve the current service levels. To carry out this evaluation, we used the Vissim software, which includes microsimulation of intersection traffic involving vehicular, pedestrian, and traffic signal flow, as well as geometric aspects. Calibration was performed, involving the adjustment of Wiedemann parameters. The key parameters evaluated were travel times and service levels. Then the validation was carried out and 2 alternatives were proposed, the first consists of a traffic light optimization and the second in a redesing of the intersection. Two alternatives were proposed: the first involved signal optimization, and the second involved intersection redesign. Both alternatives achieved a reduction in congestion of up to two service levels in certain sections of the intersection. In Proposal 1, Av. San Juan Segment 2 was reduced from “F“ to “D,“ with a 27% reduction in travel time. In Proposal 2, Segment 1 of Av. San Juan improved from a “E“ service level to “C,“ reducing travel time by 43%. Av. Panamericana Norte Segment 3 and Segment 4 also improved from a “C“ service level to “B“ and “A,“ respectively, with a 50% reduction in travel time for Av. Panamericana Norte Segment 4.
