The present investigation proposes the design of a soil wall reinforced with geogrids for the rehabilitation of a section of the Chilete-Cajamarca Road at km 140+450, which was affected due to heavy rains, affecting its previous protection works. In addition, an adequate design of the surface drainage system for said section of the road is proposed. For this design, a compacted fill soil with different mechanical properties than the in-situ soil was considered to improve the stabilization of the area. Firstly, the tests carried out in situ in the affected area are presented to obtain the stratigraphy and mechanical properties of the different types of soils in the area. The properties of reinforcing elements such as geogrids are also described. Secondly, it was verified that the slope is in an unstable situation through the Slide 2D software taking the CE.020 Soils and Slopes standard as a reference, and a preliminary design of the wall is carried out with the mechanical properties of the geogrids, the use of geosynthetics provides greater stabilization in combination with said soil, using the U.S. Federal Highway Administration design guide as a reference. Thirdly, the stability of the most common failures such as sliding failure, overturning and bearing capacity was verified, taking as reference the E.050 standard for Soils and Foundations. Finally, the surface drainage was designed which allows the drainage of rain without affecting the reinforced soil walls, the evaluation of a triangular ditch and a circular culvert was carried out and it was verified with the H Canales software.
