Introduction: A high rate of suicide and depression in university students has been identified. In the same way, migraine is a pathology that accompanies this population. That is why our objective seeks to determine the association between migraine symptoms and symptoms of depression and suicidal ideation in students of Health Sciences of the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences. Methodology: Analytical Cross-sectional Observational Design, with consecutive non-probability sampling. The independent variable was symptoms of migraine and the dependent variables were symptoms of depression and suicidal ideation. There was a surveyed population of 678 students of Health Sciences. For the univariate analysis, it was analyzed through percentages and frequencies. In the bivariate analysis, Chi square was used and in the multivariate analysis, the Poisson regression model was used. Results: The total number of students who participated in the study was 621, where 75.36% were women and 24.64% men, with a predominant age range of 18-20 years old. The percentage of students who suffered from depression was 80.19%, 59.74% did not present suicidal ideation and 85.51% did not suffer from symptoms of migraine. An association was found between suicidal ideation and migraine (p = <0.001). Patients with symptoms of migraine have 1.12 times more prevalence of depression than those without migraine symptoms (PRa = 1.122, 95% CI = 1.090; 1.155, p = <0.001). In turn, patients with migraine had 1.49 times more prevalence of suicidal ideation than those without symptoms of migraine (PRa = 1.495, 95% CI = 1.215; 1.838, p = <0.001). Conclusion: This study confirms that exists an association between migraine symptoms and depression and suicidal ideation in UPC health science students.
