The objective of this research is to relate parenting styles and adult attachment in university students who have a relationship. 167 people from 18 to 25 years old participated (Mean = 20.90, SD = 2.15). The instruments used were the Parenting Styles and Perceived Parental Inconsistency (EPIPP) and Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) scale. The magnitudes of all correlations were found to be small; however, the highest-scoring correlations were positive between Parent Response with Indirect (rw = .26) and Direct Avoidance (rw = -.24). Likewise, it was found that the affective response provided by the father does not necessarily influence the establishment of healthy loves relationships, since external variables such as personal and cultural resources may intervene. Concerning gender, it is highlighted that in our sample there is a slightly greater willingness for emotional intimacy on the part of women than men, presenting a higher score in the Indirect Avoidance dimension whose magnitude of difference turns out to be small (ξ < 0.30).
