Objectives. To evaluate whether there is an association between maternal BMI and the change in the weight/height index in preschoolers at the “San Juan Bautista - Ayacucho“ Health Center in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods. Observational, longitudinal and analytical retrospective cohort study with a first year (baseline measurement) and a second year (control measurement). The dependent variable of this study was nutritional change and the independent variable was the mother's body mass index. Results. Of 162 preschoolers who participated in the study, 46.3% were females and the remaining 53.7% were males, it was found that there was no relationship between the dependent and independent variables. However, an association was found with maternal income level “D“. Conclusions. There is no association between maternal body mass index and change in weight/height index in preschoolers at the “San Juan Bautista - Ayacucho“ Health Center in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, an association was detected with the mother's income level.
