Background: The primary social group of everyone is the family, because values, norms, customs and behaviors are learned. Objectives: To assess whether there is a statistically significant relationship between parenting styles and prosocial behavior Method: 243 young adults raised by both parents from the city of Lima Metropolitana of both sexes (36.2% male, 63% female) between the ages of 18 and 18 participated. 30 years (n= 26.2; SD = 6.36%). For the selection of the participants, a non-probabilistic snowball sampling was used. They answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Prosocial Behavior Scale and the short version of the Escala de Crianza EMBU “mis recuerdos de la infancia“. It was found that there is a statistically significant relationship between the dimensions of the parenting styles scale and prosocial behaviors, except for the dimension Overprotection of the mother and prosocial behavior. Conclusions: Parenting styles exercised by parents and how children perceive them are significantly related to the development of prosocial behavior upon reaching adulthood.
