Objective: To evaluate the association between participation in demonstration sessions and home visits, and anemia in children aged 18 to 35 months. Methods: Secondary analysis of the ENDES 2019. 6075 children were analyzed. The dependent variable was anemia (hemoglobin adjusted for masl, <11 g/dL) and the independent ones were participation in sessions and visits. Chi square was used in the bivariate analysis and Poisson regression was used in the multivariate analysis for crude and adjusted prevalence. Results: The probability of having anemia was 24% higher in children whose mothers participated in sessions (PR: 1.24, 95% CI: 1.11-1.39) and 29% in those who received visits (PR: 1.29, 95% CI:12-1.48). The adjusted model showed that children whose mothers attended sessions and had SIS were less likely to have anemia (0.28, 95% CI: 0.24-0.31) compared with children without insurance (0.45, 95% CI: 0.35-0.55) or that have some other (0.45, 95% CI: 0.28-0.62). Moreover, uninsured children and who did not receive visits (0.34, 95% CI: 0.31-0.38) were more likely to suffer from anemia than those with SIS or others (0.30, 95% CI: 0 , 28-0.32 vs 0.28, 95% CI: 0.24-0.33). Conclusion: A positive association was found between participation in sessions and visits with the probability of having anemia. Having SIS reduced the probability of anemia compared with not having insurance or having some other.
