Cement is among the industries with the highest CO2 emissions globally, so it is important to seek to reduce its production. One way to reduce it is to partially replace the cement with another material without this reducing the quality of the resulting concrete. This research proposes wood ash as a replacement material, so the objective was to determine the effect of wood ash on the mechanical properties of concrete when replacing it in percentage to cement, this in order to measure the effect that could have in the concrete and see if this partial replacement is feasible or not. The design of this investigation was experimental, with a sample that includes 4 mix designs that started from a standard mix design of 210 Kg/cm2, then replacements of 10, 12.5 and 15% of cement by wood coal ash; Tests were carried out and 15x30 cm cylindrical specimens were made. From the tests carried out on the concrete, it is concluded that the higher the percentage of ash, the value of the settlement decreases, maintaining it between 3" and 4". In the resistance to compression and traction by diametrical compression, the one with the best behavior at all ages is the design with 10% wood coal ash - 90% cement, in terms of Compression, improvements of 1.4% were obtained after 28 days of cured with respect to pattern; Likewise, in terms of Traction, improvements of 3.27% were obtained at 28 days with respect to the pattern.
