Abstract: Objetivo: Describir la Práctica Basada en Evidencia (PBE) en fisioterapeutas peruanos.
Objective: Describe the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in Peruvian physiotherapists. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study in 356 physiotherapists. An Evidence-Based Practice questionnaire was used, consisting of 7 factors: attitudes and beliefs, interests and motivations, use of tools for the application of Evidence-Based Practice, access and availability, ability or knowledge, self-reported knowledge of statistical terms, and barriers. Results: Most of the physiotherapists stated that they agreed to some degree that Evidence-Based Practice is necessary (98.9%) and useful for clinical practice (97.7%) and they were interested and motivated to apply it (98.6%). About 60% reviewed and used scientific literature 2 to 5 times per month, 100% reported limitations in access and availability to apply Evidence-Based Practice. About 95% had an academic background in Evidence-Based Practice and felt confident in their ability, but 50% fully understood the statistical terms and considered the inability to apply research findings to patients and insufficient time as barriers. Conclusion: Physiotherapists report good attitudes, beliefs, interest and motivation towards Evidence-Based Practice, which most search, review and use two to five articles/times per month for the application of Evidence-Based Practice. In addition, they report limited access and availability to apply EBP, having received training in Evidence-Based Practice, and having the ability or knowledge and confidence to apply it in their clinical practice. On the other hand, the most important barrier is insufficient time and inability to apply research findings, and lastly, there is no full understanding of statistical terms.
